Riwayat Muslim
Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) said meaning: “It (the leadership) is a trust and in the hereafter is a shame and remorse, except to those who take it with the rights and responsibilities entrusted in it.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Huraian Hadith:
  1. At the very least, a person is a leader onto himself. As such, he is responsible to care for himself and those entrusted to him such as children, spouse, family, employees and others so that their lives will run smoothly and perfectly.
  2. Each trust must be received with full understanding of the duties and obligations contained therein. Next, the trust is undertaken with sincerity and honesty accompanied with hard work so that the responsibilities will be implemented.
  3. Instead, if a trust is used as a springboard for self-interest, gloating and enjoyment, then the leadership will become a source of regret and disgrace in the Hereafter. He will experience the humiliation, even while still in this world, especially when the leadership is stripped from him.
  4. Those who truly realise the responsibilities of leadership will not be likely to ask for or become too eager to fight for a post because each trust must be undertaken cautiously. Leadership is a trust and trust is the responsibility that will be questioned on the Judgement Day.
