Ibn Umar r.a has said: Allah's Apostle (peace and blessings be upon him)took hold of my shoulder and said: “Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller.” Ibn Umar r.a. has said: “If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.”

Huraian Hadith: 
  1. The world is a place for humans to work and not a place to idle away because on this earth, we are like merchants or travellers who will eventually return to our natural home in the eternal Hereafter.
  2. For each deed, there is a time in which to perform it and once the time has passed, we may never be able to perform it. Therefore, those who understand the value of time are aware that time is actually one’s age; whereby the passing of time means we have fewer years left in our lifetime and less time to perform deeds. There is no use for disappointment and regret once time has passed.
  3. So those who wish for eternal happiness should take care that their time is not wasted and perform deeds before they find themselves too busy, ill or faced with situations that prevent them from doing so.
