161 Leaders Do not be selfish
Narrated Abdullah: Allah’s Apostle (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us, “You will see after me, selfishness (on the part of other people) and other matters that you will disapprove of.” They asked, “What do you order us to do, ‘O Allah’s Apostle? (under such circumstances)?” He said, “Pay their rights to them (to the rulers) and ask your right from Allah.”

162 Performing Night Prayer
Narrated by Nafi’ ibn Umar who said: “While the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on the pulpit, a man asked him how to offer the night prayers. He replied, ‘Pray two raka’t at a time and then two and then two and so on, and if you are afraid of the dawn (the approach of the time of the Fajr prayer) pray one raka’t and that will be the witr for all the raka’t which you have offered’.” Ibn Umar said, “The last raka’t of the night prayer should be odd for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered it to be so.”

Abu Qatada al-Ansari r.a. reported that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: “It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.”

Abdullah b. Umar r.a. and Abu Huraira r.a. said that they heard Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) say on the planks of his pulpit: “People most cease to neglect the Friday prayer or Allah will seal their hearts and then they will be among the negligent.”

167 Road to Paradise
Narrated by Abu Abdillah Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari r.a. that a man once said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): “Shall I enter Paradise in case I say the obligatory prayers, observe the (fasts) of Ramadhan and treat that as lawful which has been made permissible (by the syariah) and deny myself that what is forbidden, and make no addition to it? He (the Holy Prophet) replied in the affirmative. He (the inquirer) said: “By Allah, I would add nothing to it.”

168 Traveller in the World
Narrated by Mujahid: Abdullah bin ‘Umar said: “Allah’s Apostle (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my shoulder and said, ‘Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller’.” The sub-narrator added: Abdullah bin ‘Umar used to say: “If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.”

169 Wasilah to be Close to Allah and to Attain His Love
Narrated by Abu Huraira r.a. who said: Allah’s Apostle (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah said, ‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.”

174 Do Not Look Down Upon the Charity of Others
Abu Mas’ud reported: “We were commanded to give charity (despite the fact) that we were labourers. However, Abu ‘Aqil donated half a sa’. And there came another man with more than this. The hypocrites said: “Verily Allah does not stand in need of the charity of this, and the second one has done nothing but only made a show (of his charity)”. Then this verse was revealed: “Those who criticise the contributors among the believers concerning [their] charities and [criticise] the ones who find nothing [to spend] except their effort, so they ridicule them - Allah will ridicule them, and they will have a painful punishment” (at-Taubah: 79).

Narrated by Abu Huraira r.a.: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should unite the bond of kinship (i.e. keep good relation with his Kith and kin); and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should talk what is good or keep quiet.”

Narrated by Abu Huraira r.a.: A man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “Advise me!” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do not become angry and furious.” The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious."
