An endorsement letter from the Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) is one of the compulsory documents that must be submitted by foreigners to the Immigration Department of Malaysia(JIM) to meet the procedures for the granting of Visit Pass (Professional) (PLIK). The Visit Pass (Professional) is an endorsement either in the form of a stamp or adhesive issued by JIM Visit Pass (Professional) to foreign national who wish to remain and provide a specific professional visit for a short period in Malaysia. Visit Pass (Professional) for this category is issued to foreign who wish to serve as religious teachers and international students who wish to pursue Islamic studies in Malaysia for those who are qualified and meet the requirement set. JAKIM acts as the Secretariat to handle it manually since 1995 until the management has been fully upgraded online and fully utilised in 2016. This is the smart partnership system between JAKIM and external agencies comprising the State Islamic Religious Department (JAIN), State Islamic Religious Council (MAIN), Mufti Department, Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) who has responsible for implementing this application process until JAKIM issues the Visit Pass (Professional) Support Letter.
